Container gardening is popular for both aesthetic and practical reasons. We grow some plants in pots because we like to shift them around, in view when they are looking good, hidden from site when not so good.
Grow herbs in containers near the kitchen is very practical. Fresh herbs outside the kitchen door are great for the cook.
We have also placed pots or containers in the garden to add height and interest, just be careful with drainage.
As we like to grow 'difficult and hard to find plants' we also grow some of our 'collectors items' such as fritillaria in pots so we know exactly what's going on with them.
