Hellebores Pretty Faces of Winter and Adeniums
Hellebores, also known as the Christmas and Lenten roses, are the classic winter perennial. When most other ornamental plants have tucked their flowers well and truly away these hardy souls provide us with an exuberant display of outstanding foliage and wonderful early blooms right throughout the cold and gloomy season. Read the Full Article On Hellebores
Adenium Obesum and other adenium plants are native to tropical and subtropical eastern Eastern Africa and Northern Arabia. Adeniums require full sun for proper care but can be grown indoors if they recieve full light near a window. Sandy's Adeniums is a new addition to our Adenium Nurseries

New Rose Releases and Some Very Special Liliums
Treloars Roses have releases a new range of roses, we particularly like LUPO (Kordwarul)
LUPO (pictured left) is Miniature Rose. Very dense and compact, a miniature rose that grows around 50cm high x 40cm wide. It produces a mass of deep purple to carmine red flowers repeatedly that are as good in brilliance as they are in resistance to the elements. A great rose for landscaping purposes with many hips produced in Autumn also. Fragrance free blooms.
More new release roses on the Front Page of www.nurseriesonline.com.au over the next few weeks
LILIUMS
We hear a lot about the spectacular Liliums and people usually talk about the Asiatic Liliums and the Oriental Liliums, now they are really great plants with fantastic flowers however often neglected and often just as fascinating are the species Liliums, and if you are looking for Liliums that are just a little bit different then its hard to go past some of the species Liliums available.
We list some of the best growers of species Liliums in Australia including Tonkins Bulbs and Hillview Rare Plants, you can find them all on our Liliums page. In terms of species Liliums we really like Lilium Japonicum from Hillview Rare Plants and Lilium Lankongense from Byan H Tonkin, both worth a place in the garden.
And while we are talking about new Catalogues Paradise Distributors have just updated their catalogue as well, see www.nurseriesonline.com.au for details.

A Gardeners guide to Crocus
Crocus are one of our favourite bulbs and nor is a great time to plant them, we grow them in pots and containers as well as in the garden and even naturalised into the lawn.
The article 'A Gardeners guide to Crocus' by Marcus Harvey Includes crocus for Australian gardeners and a look at the new book Janis Ruksans, titled, Crocuses : a complete guide to the genus. Marcus Harvey of Hill View Rare Plants holds Australia's largest collection of crocus species.
Many of these wonderful plants are available from his nursery Hill View Rare Plants. Marcus provides us with an introduction to the genus including notes on those most suited to Australian conditions.
Janis Ruksans' is a Latvian Bulb expert and his book, Crocuses : a complete guide to the genus is perhaps the definitive guide to the genus.
If you are interested in a good read and gardening try his book Buried Treasures : finding and growing the world's choicest bulbs, a bit of intrigue, a bit of travelogue and some great stories bulbs, bulb collecting and how to grow them, it would make a great gift (but buy two copies or read it yourself first) Try Florilegium Bookstore for the books.

Daffodil Time - Well at least its time to plant the bulbs....
Now is a great time to start browsing the Daffodil Catalogues Online and checking out some of the more interesting ones available. Daffodils are all Narcissus species and the flower is characterised by a central trumpet, or round shaped corona surrounded by a ring of six floral petals called the perianth. Did you know that the daffodil is national flower of Wales! So you might be after a few dozen 'Tete a Tete' to plant in groups for the garden border. Or you might be looking for something a little more exotic, perhaps one of the species such as Narcissus Viridiflorus with its fasctinating thin green petals, or perhaps the 'Hoop Petticoat' Narcissus Citrinus with its lemon flowers (try Tonkins Bulbs) or perhaps the really rare Narcissus waiteri form Hill View Rare Plants. You can find them all and lots more in the catalogues on our Daffodil Bulbs Page
