New Wholesale Nursery an Updated Catalogue and Compost Bins

A little bit of news for everyone, Landscapers, Retail Nurseries, Councils and Developers will be interested in two new nursery catalogues. One an update, one new. Home gardeners might like to follow our compost bin trial.....

New Wholesale Nursery

This week we add  Blerick Tree Farm
Blerick Tree Farm are growers of advanced and semi advanced trees from 25cm pots through to 100l bags. They also stock a range of citrus, grasses, hedging and other landscape lines. Blerick Tree Farm welcome trade clients including nurseries, landscapers, developers, councils, schools and golf courses. Find them in our Victorian Wholesale Section

Don and Peter Teese have just updated the Yamina Rare Plants Catalogue
A great range of Magnolias, Grafted Japanese Maples and many other sometimes hard to find plants. Find them at www.yaminarareplants.com.au

After years of making compost the traditional way, in three heaps, and turning with a fork, and a few tries at the static round plastic bins we decided it was time to try one of the newer designs. We went looking for a tumbler, but found a new type of bin.

So we decided to try the aerobic type compost bin. We are running a trial on the compost bin over the next few months, using lots of grass clippings, autumn leaves, some paper, kitchen scraps and some other garden waste. We are layering wet and dry material as suggested. You can follow the trial on our web site on our compost bin review page

We are interested in hearing your experiences with compost bins. Especially compost tumblers and aerobic type systems.

We still love our worm farm, lots of great liquid fertilizer, check out our worm farm page......

Pimelea or Qualup Bell

We believe that the grafted varieties of Pimelea or Qualup Bell are an adaptable native plant. Originally from Western Australia the image (left) was taken in the Dandenong ranges east of Melbourne, a long way from the sand belts where they originated. This is a grafted plant we purchased from Vaughans Australian Native Plants (just outside Geelong) about 3 years ago. Its doing well in a large pot, but would do equally well in a well drained position in the garden. The Qualop Bell is a great plant, this one is flowering in May, very attractive green and red bell shaped flowers. A real Native Australian Beauty. Try the Nurseries on The Qualup Bell Page
